Laurent Blanc: "France among 4-5 favourites, Messi is amazing, Mbappe has to be in the right position"
Laurent Blanc discusses the World Cup and France's prospects, highlighting the strengths of teams such as Germany, Spain, Argentina and Brazil, while praising the extraordinary talents of Messi and Mbappé.
In an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, Laurent Blanc talked about the World Cup and France's prospects. "There is no one favorite in a World Cup because it is a tournament that lasts for 39 days and involves 48 teams. So it is difficult to name any one team as favourite. But I would say France is among the 4-5 favourites," he said. He also praised Germany, Spain, Argentina and Brazil.
Blanc said of Messi, "Messi is amazing. I've played until I was almost 38, but it's easier for a defender. Messi needs goals and pace, explosiveness, and dribbling. And to think he's 39 now... he's really a phenomenon."He also spoke on Mbappé: "He's a 9, 11, 7, and a midfielder... He's everything because he scores a lot of goals. France are lucky they can play him and enjoy him. But it's very important to put him in the right positions, and I think the national team, Real and PSG have done that over the years. His statistics are there for all to see."
