Wout Weghorst says goodbye to /ajax and joins Twente
Wout Weghorst has expressed his delight at ending his contract with Ajax and joining Twente.
Twente have announced the addition of Wout Weghorst to their squad. The 33-year-old attacking player's contract will be effective from July 1, when he expires his contract with Ajax. Weghorst is set to sign a two-year contract. They are joining their favorite team, as he himself said: "As a young fan, I had the privilege of celebrating cup wins with FC Twente in 2001 and 2011. In 2010, I was present at the Oude Markt when FC Twente became champions; and I was present during many memorable European nights at De Grolsch Veste. These are all unforgettable memories. Many of my football dreams come true. But one dream remained… Now it has come true. From next season, I will give everything to celebrate successes with FC Twente, this time not as a fan, but as a player." Weghorst will face Eric Ten Hag at Twente, who has been serving as the club's technical director since February. On this, Ten Hag said: "A player who has had such an impressive career would normally be out of reach for FC Twente. He has always shown a great desire and determination, and is full of ambition."
