Portugal national football team coach Jorge Jesus has confirmed that star player Cristiano Ronaldo can return to the team if he wants. However, he clarified that he does not need to apologize to anyone for his behavior. Jesus said these things after winning 2-1 against Norway.

"I don't ask for it from anyone. The problem arises when a player is asked to warm-up but is not fielded. I am responsible for my decisions, but I have no need to apologise," the 72-year-old coach said.

Ronaldo was not included in the starting eleven for the first leg against Norway. He was asked to warm-up in the second half, but in the end Jesus did not give him a chance to play. After this incident, Ronaldo stopped practicing with the team and left the team camp on 30 September.

Meanwhile, Jesus also said that Ronaldo's return depends only on his wish. "If Cristiano wants to continue playing and return for the national team, he can come back at any time," he said. Jesus also said that the relationship between him and Ronaldo is very good, but this personal relationship should not come into play in team selection.

Jesus further added, "I worked with Ronaldo at Al Nassr and we have respect for each other, but this cannot in any way influence the selection of the team." He also said that Ronaldo is still in their plans and if he is willing to play for the team, he can be given a place in the game.

The president of the Portuguese Football Federation also commented on Ronaldo's situation, saying that if Ronaldo meets the team's requirements, he will always be part of the team. "Ronaldo will always be a part of Portuguese football," he said.

Jesus also said that he hoped the dispute would be resolved soon and that Ronaldo would return to the squad for the two upcoming Nations League matches.

Thus, the Portuguese team has achieved four wins in four matches under the guidance of Jesus and they have made it to the quarter-finals of the Nations League.

What will happen next

Jesus made it clear that Ronaldo's comeback depends entirely on his intentions. If Ronaldo decides to return to the team, it could strengthen Portugal's chances in the Nations League. However, the coach also said that personal relationships should not become a hindrance in team selection.
