"I have my dad with me every single game and I think about what he would tell me and what I learned from reading his notes when he was a coach. I still try to pick up words of wisdom from him. I know he'll be with us and he's been with us every single game. Hopefully we can play good football, make them proud and give them something to celebrate."Dario, who is 39, was born in Croatia – his parents' home country when it was part of Yugoslavia – but moved to Australia a year later when Rado was playing for the Queensland Lions. He followed his father's path, becoming a player and representing Australia, then moving into coaching. When asked about the role football played in his life, Dario said: "From a young age, it was probably with my father, everything was with him. When he was playing, I was watching. A lot of the time I was in the back fields with the kids. We were in a Croatian community club, so we were always together. We would play with the juniors during the day and then go to the place where the first team played. These are all my memories, just being around dad. Traveling was something I loved doing. Both mom and dad made a lot of sacrifices to help me travel.
