Leeds United have made their position clear for Tarik Muharremovic, with the club unwilling to accept any offer for the defender during the January transfer window. Despite growing interest from home and abroad, Leeds look to retain their most important summer addition. According to Football Insider's Pete O'Rourke, Leeds have no plans to sell the 23-year-old midway through his debut Premier League campaign. The club is happy with his performances and does not want him to leave, even if potential buyers offer sufficient money. Muharemovic joined Leeds from Sassuolo in July for £34 million, making him the second-most expensive signing in the club's history. After such a huge investment, expectations were naturally high, but the centre-back has wasted no time in establishing himself in English football. Daniel Farke has started him in every match so far this season, and the defender has played every available minute. His contributions are not limited to defensive duties, he has already registered a goal and an assist for his new club. This early impression explains why Leeds want to keep him. Losing a regular starter in just six months will cause unnecessary problems for Farke, especially when his defensive options need stability during a difficult Premier League campaign. The reported transfer interest shows how quickly Muharemovic has established himself at Elland Road. At 23, he offers Leeds physical strength, composure and room for further improvement. Its performance raised £34 million.

This has justified the investment, while its importance has continued to increase in the defensive structure of the division. Leeds cannot easily replace these qualities in January, especially as clubs usually demand high fees for established defenders in the middle of the season. According to O'Rourke, Leeds are not even considering the financial circumstances that could force them to release the defender. Their position is clear: they don't want to sell, and they want to keep him long-term. Yes, Leeds should reject any approach in January, even if there is a financial incentive, because replacing an established starter could cost them far more than any transfer benefit immediately. A £34 million investment requires protection, especially as Muharemovic has already proven his value through consistent performances. Farke needs defensive partnerships that can develop over time, not another recruiting problem in the middle of the season. A significant summer offer may be worth considering in 2027, but January is the wrong time to negotiate. Leeds United need stability in defence, and selling their most promising defensive investment would undermine those aspirations.

What will happen next

Leeds United will now focus on retaining Muharremovic in the January transfer window, while interest remains from other Premier League clubs. If the club does not sell the defender, he will remain an important part of their defensive strategy in the upcoming matches. In addition, those monitoring Muharremovic's performance
