Michael Carrick: Manchester United coach at Burnley on Sunday

Michael Carrick, who is the coach of Manchester United, is facing lack of performance from the players. United captain Bruno Fernandes has recently raised questions over Carrick's strategies, which are affecting the team's collective performance.

Why it matters

Manchester United's performance this season has become a matter of concern, especially after the recent 4-1 defeat. Some senior members within the Premier League club believe the team needs to perform better, which could impact their season prospects. Carrick's decision to maintain coaching stability could be part of the club's long-term strategy.

Michael Carrick is expected to remain as Manchester United coach for Sunday's Premier League match against Burnley, but high-ranking officials at the club are concerned about his performances in the last few matches. Carrick has yet to give any information about any possible changes after his side suffered a 4-1 defeat against Italian side Como on Wednesday. Some members of the club believe the team should perform better, with one source saying, "We have to work hard to get out of this."

However, some United officials believe that frequent changes of coach over the years have not helped arrest the club's decline. Carrick is facing a shortage of players who are not performing at the expected level. Club sources say Carrick will remain for the match against Burnmouth, but United have already begun to identify potential replacements. Eddie Howe, Antonio Conte and Julian Nagelsmann are interested in the job.

After Wednesday's match, United captain Bruno Fernandes questioned Carrick's tactics. The players were given the day off on Thursday but will return to Carrington on Friday, where Carrick will hold his press conference ahead of the Burnley match. There is still uncertainty over Carrick's future, but some are praising the progress he and his team made last season.

Some senior members inside the club believe that interest for the manager's job has been expressed for a long time. Howe, who previously coached Newcastle, is set to take over the management role at Manchester United.

Over the past three years, United have publicly and financially supported a coach, but are not getting positive results. Questions began to arise following the League Cup defeat against Grimsby last August and a poor performance against Brentford. United have won only two matches in all competitions this season and are in a dire situation.

United have a Premier League match next up, which presents a challenging spot for Carrick. Burnmouth picked up their first Premier League win under new coach Marco Rose last week. Last season, Burnley played out a thrilling 4-4 draw at Old Trafford.

It will be interesting to see how long Carrick will last in this match and whether he will be able to get his team out of this difficult situation.

What will happen next

Carrick is ready for the Premier League match against Burnley, but there remains uncertainty over his status. The club has begun identifying potential replacements, which include Eddie Howe, Antonio Conte and Julian Nagelsmann. Players need to improve their performance, otherwise the direction of the season could be seriously affected.
