Background

Florian Wirtz, who arrived at Liverpool as a key player, is now under pressure over his position. Their failure has led the club to look towards young players such as Eric Farkas, who have the potential to make their mark in the Premier League.

Why it matters

The situation of Florian Wirtz has become a matter of concern for Liverpool as he has struggled to live up to expectations at Anfield. Their failure has further highlighted the lack of homegrown players in the Premier League club's squad, leaving the club in need of young talent. The plan to sign Eric Farkas could be an important step in this direction.

Liverpool plan to sign exciting English wonderkid, Eric Farkas, who looks to be an alternative to Florian Wirtz. Wirtz has been under pressure at Anfield recently. He was brought to Anfield with so many expectations that he could become the next superstar. But now it seems he is struggling to adapt to the system of English football.

Wirtz's situation has now become a problem for coach Andoni Iraola. Liverpool have invested heavily in him and the pressure is on to be patient with him. But can Liverpool tolerate his situation much longer, especially as Bayern Munich have emerged as a potential suitor for him?

Furthermore, the lack of homegrown players in Liverpool's squad has also become a matter of concern. Over the past two years, Richard Hughes has deliberately traded away several homegrown players, including Tyler Morton, Jarrell Quansah and Curtis Jones. All these players have worked hard to reach the first team from the academy level. His sale has put Liverpool in a position where they have to include players like Izaak Mbaya, who have only one game of experience, into their Premier League squad.

Liverpool now need to make the most of their homegrown options. However, Liverpool do have a plan for Wirtz's successor. Julian Ward succeeded in convincing Eric Farkas to sign his first professional contract with Liverpool last month. The England Under-18 international has attracted the attention of a number of top Premier League and European clubs. Farkas is considered one of the most exciting young players in the club's academy set-up. At the age of 17, he has had a great start to the season with three goals and two assists in four matches. He is an ideal number 10, who plays through the middle of the game and has the ability to deliver accurate passes to his teammates.

Unlike Wirtz, Farkas has developed in English football. He is used to the physicality of the league, which makes him more suited to playing in the Premier League.

What will happen next

Liverpool are now planning to accelerate the signing of Eric Farkas, who could become a potential replacement for Florian Wirtz. If Wirtz does not improve his form, the club may feel the need to bring in Farkas as his replacement. Additionally, Liverpool will also need to take steps towards maximizing their homegrown options.
